You would also require a strong way of pulling your vehicle out in case it gets stuck in mud or any other situation where driving would be difficult.

Depending on how much of an adrenaline junkie you are, you can chose to either do both together or separately. The basic requirements for a hike would be to take plenty of water, a map, GPS system, a first aid kit and a method of communication. Camping would require, tents, water, food, snacks, again a first aid kit, blankets and anything else you would deem fit. However, the amount of things you carry would depend on whether you are driving or hiking to your camp site.
